2025 Grape Pirates Riesling | Orange, NSW
‘Bright and lively, linear and very pure-feeling with green mango, green pineapple, lime and lemongrass characters delivering most of the personality with small dashes of alpine herbs and lemongrass characters delivering blossom notes. Edgy in texture, but in a good sense, a light but grippy pucker, let’s say and a long trail of citrusy freshness to close. Very good drinking ensues, with kinda textbook feel to the wine overall. Another notch in the bedpost to say that Riesling is the halo variety for Orange.’

Grown in our cool-climate vineyard at 990m on the slopes of Gaana Bula (Mt Canobolas), this Riesling draws its identity from the region’s basalt-rich soils - the backbone of Orange’s unmistakable high altitude character.
Tasting note: Vibrant aromas of lemon verbena, elderflower & citrus blossom. A dry, textural palate bursting with finger lime, red apple and a lengthy lemon sherbet finish.
Winemaking: 2025 gifted us a beautiful crop, hand-picked in pristine condition. One third of the fruit soaked on skins for 24 hours, before joining the rest for pressing and settled overnight. Racked to mature French oak barrels for wild and inoculated fermentations. Regular bâtonnage for seven months building texture and palate weight.
